The SpaceFibre Router is a standalone, ready-to-use hardware unit housed in a compact desktop box. It provides a configurable and flexible solution for very high data-rate routing switch functionality in ground networking applications.

Based on the SpaceFibre protocol, it supports bi-directional, full-duplex serial data communication links and is fully compliant with the SpaceFibre standard (ECSS-E-ST-50-11C), including all network-level features defined by the standard.

The router features 4 SpaceFibre ports, built on our proprietary SpaceFibre Router IP Core with eSATA connectors, and an additional Ethernet port for easy updates. It provides advanced SpaceFibre routing capabilities such as:

  • Multicast: packets can be forwarded to multiple output ports simultaneously based on their headers;
  • Group Adaptive Routing: the output port is selected from a set of possible ports, choosing the first available one;
  • Virtual Channel Timeout: if the transfer of data from an input port to the connected output port exceeds a set timeout, the wormhole is closed and the remaining packet is discarded.

Thanks to its configurable features, including full support for virtual networks, along with advanced functionality, the SpaceFibre Router is an ideal solution for high-performance development and integration of flight units, ensuring reliable operation even under demanding data-rate conditions.
